Does EU roaming apply in Denmark?

EU roaming applies to German mobile contracts in Denmark: you use your domestic allowance. An eSIM is worthwhile if your contract has little data, limits roaming (fair-use rule) or you stay longer.

How much data do you need?

  • Messages, maps, email: about 0.5 to 1 GB per week
  • Social media, photos, video calls: about 1 to 3 GB per week
  • Video streaming: about 1 GB per hour in standard quality, more in HD

The packages for Denmark compared:

  • Denmark 3 GB · 30 days enough for messages, maps and email
  • Denmark 10 GB · 30 days also enough for social media and video calls
  • Denmark 50 GB · 180 days the same use, for longer stays

“Unlimited” means high-speed data per day, then you keep browsing at reduced speed.

Calling with your German number

Data package on, calls as at home: with Phonestar you take your German mobile or landline number along in the app; calls and texts run over the eSIM data.

How the eSIM gets onto your phone

  1. Order

Choose destination and pack, pay. No plan, no subscription.

  2. QR code arrives

Your eSIM arrives by email, usually within minutes, and is in your account.

  3. Install

Install on Wi-Fi before you travel, switch it on for mobile data at your destination.

Top-ups

If the allowance runs out, top up: on the same eSIM, up to 9 times, in your Phonestar account. You get access to the account with your first eSIM.

Even more with a Phonestar plan

With a Phonestar plan your German number lives in the Phonestar Connect app. Over the eSIM's mobile data you can call abroad without roaming charges and receive texts, including codes from your bank. You can then also book mobile data right in the app.

The rules

  • Each pack is charged once, no subscription: it does not renew by itself.
  • Depending on the pack, validity starts at installation or at the first connection; the pack shows which.
  • An installed eSIM stays on the device it was installed on.
  • Unlimited means: a high-speed allowance per day, after that you keep browsing at reduced speed.
  • Returns are only possible through support.
